Music Institute

Evanston, Illinois

For their new Evanston home, The Music Institute acquired a majestic 1912 Greek revival church by noted Chicago Architect Solon S. Beman. Thanks to an acoustically superb sanctuary and generously proportioned lower level, the building was a perfect fit for the Institute’s needs. The sanctuary was adapted as a performance space and the lower level became practice studios and classrooms with state-of-the-art acoustical treatment.

OKW’s sensitivity toward the historic nature of the architecture led to the building winning a Landmark Preservation award. It’s also been recognized for historical renovation in numerous publications.
